UPDATE: Couple expecting two sets of twins welcomes four healthy baby girls

Tyson and Ashley Gardner, a USA-based couple from Utah, had been shocked to learn that they were expecting quadruplets after 8 years of infertility. Happily, they are now the proud parents of not one but two sets of twin girls: Indie, Esme, Scarlett, and Evangeline. Ashley gave birth via caesarian section. All of the babies are doing well, with the smallest baby Indie weighing just under two pounds, and her three sisters weighing over two pounds each.

In July 2014, the couple got the “surprise of their lives” when they discovered that they were having quadruplets after undergoing IVF treatment during which only two embryos were transferred to Ashley’s womb! Both embryos later split, resulting in two sets of identical twins. The photo of the couple looking shocked after the ultrasound soon went viral. In October, they got the frightening news that one set of twins had twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (when the blood supply for one twin moves to the other twin via the placenta), but fortunately, surgery was able to treat the problem. Ashley remained on bed rest until 30 weeks when she began having contractions and the doctors decided that it was time for her to deliver the babies.

Proud dad Tyson shared the news via their Facebook page:

“Mom and babies are doing incredible!!! We are so happy with how everything turned out today!”
