Jennifer Aniston says it’s “not fair” to pressure women to have kids

In a recent interview on the Today Show, Jennifer Aniston spoke out against critics who have put her under “pressure” to have kids. Notoriously private about her personal life, Jennifer said she has been made to feel like less of a woman because she doesn’t have kids.

Jennifer said she’s constantly asked about whether she’s going to have a family:

“I don’t have this sort of check list of things that have to be done. And if they are not checked, then I’ve failed some part of my feminism or my being a woman or my value or my worth as a woman because I haven’t, you know, birthed a child? I’ve birthed a lot of things and I feel like I’ve mothered many things and I don’t think it is fair to put that kind of pressure on people.”

In response to the relentless social and media pressure to become a mother, Aniston has confided in Gloria Steinem, feminist and researcher, who she says has been a great support. Despite all of the focus on her personal life, Jennifer said that she’s proud of how much she has matured over the 20 years she’s been in the public eye. She feels she’s overcome significant challenges and is happy with the life that she’s created for herself.
