Tis the season: Drinking wine may create stronger sperm

A recent study published in Systems Biology in Reproductive Medicine suggests that there may be good reason for men to indulge in a glass or two of wine this holiday season.

Contrary to the findings of previous studies, the researchers from the Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine in Lodz, Poland found that men who drank wine moderately (up to three times a week) had stronger sperm. The Polish study also found that more leisure time, light coffee drinking, and wearing boxer shorts improved sperm health. Given the popularity of cell phones, it is interesting to note that regular cell phone use for at least 10 years was associated with reduced sperm strength.

Similar to many other studies, the findings of this study again demonstrate that lifestyle factors can impact sperm quality. Read more herehere, and here.
